Comments Information
Function
- Mutacin-2 inhibits other mutans streptococci as well as many gram-positive exogenous pathogens. Transiently and partially depolarizes the transmembrane electrical potential and pH gradient of susceptible cells, inhibits the uptake of amino acids and depletes the intracellular ATP pool.
Biophysicochemical properties
- pH dependence (Stable from pH 4.0 to 10.0); Temperature dependence (Thermostable).
PTM
- There are one didehydrobutyrine (T25), two lanthionines (S12-C26; S19-C27) and one Beta-methyllanthionine (T10-C15).
